Through rotating breakout sessions on giving feedback, hiring, and training, participants will explore practical strategies such as coaching students in constructive feedback, preparing them for equitable and efficient hiring processes, and equipping them to facilitate accurate and consistent peer training. This structure creates space for shared learning and practical takeaways that directly strengthen the student employment experience within campus recreation. The idea for this program grew from conversations among staff and the NIRSA Student Staff Development Committee about the challenges of preparing student leaders to supervise effectively, with the goal of creating a collaborative forum for exchanging approaches. Esports can be a varsity-style sport and a social magnet at the same time. In this webinar we unpack what works on real campuses. Our team has visited dozens of campuses across the country in the last few years and seen sports and esports spaces in all shapes and sizes. We will share what works, what does not, and why, including when to invest in competitive arenas, when a casual drop-in lounge wins, and how to keep both active after hours.
