Join NIRSA Executive Director Pam Watts for this live event roundtable for senior leaders. This series is designed for Campus Recreation Directors (and equivalents) to explore current challenges and opportunities from a strategic lens. Each session, offered quarterly, will focus on a specific topic, and other facilitators and presenters will be invited to join.

Campus recreation departments have diversified where they recruit talent, and in turn now need to diversify their onboarding and training programs for new staff to meet the needs of a wider range of professional backgrounds. If you’ve never worked in higher ed before, it can be a bit of a strange environment where cultures, systems, and processes are very different that work settings off campus.

In the December session, a panel of professionals who are new to higher education will share what they found challenging or unfamiliar about working in a college setting. These professionals will share where guidance and onboarding can accelerate their effectiveness in working within a campus system and cultureFor all of us who have been working in higher education for a while, we’ve likely forgotten what is unique and unusual about our setting.
