Course Description

Are you new to supervising college students? As professional staff within campus recreation departments, we all incorporate student development into our day-to-day responsibilities, often without realizing it. But how can you enhance your interactions with students to ensure they maximize the value of their employment experience with our programs, facilities, and services?  

This virtual course will provide an introductory-level overview of what student development means within the realm of higher education student employment, providing theoretical background knowledge along with practical applications. Course participants will learn how to engage with students throughout their employment journey, from the hiring and onboarding processes to graduation and beyond. This course, divided across six modules, serves as a great resource for anyone who is beginning a career in campus recreation by creating a baseline to understand and articulate their impact on student employee development.
