During the Covid-19 pandemic, colleges and universities were forced to modify their approach to, well, everything. Quarantine forced us to find online alternatives to our everyday routines. While classes and programming can be adapted to a virtual environment, Outdoor programming and events were forced to cancel outright. You can't take the outdoors virtual, right?

Except you can.

In this program, discover how one outdoor program used social media, student input, and a little ingenuity to bring the world outside to students suddenly trapped online. The presentation will cover how to set up a virtual Outdoor program, from trips to team building.

Learning Outcomes(s)
1. Create your own virtual content for outdoor recreation.
2. Use social media and online meeting software (such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom) to bring outdoor programming to your students.
3. Identify new opportunities for outdoor programming through collaboration and content sharing.

Outdoor Adventure Coordinator

Clayton State University

I am currently the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator for Clayton State University in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been in this role since October 2018, and have been working in the Outdoor Industry since 1997.

I'm an avid hiker, adventure seeker, and traveler. When I'm not leading students, I'm typically teaching my kids about the outdoors and taking them on awesome adventures.
