What does it take to develop and support our student leaders? This roundtable is aimed at discussing the nuances of engaging student leaders in Campus Recreation. How do you support students to strengthen and practice leadership skills in their roles as student managers and coordinatorsWhat has worked and what has been challenging? The student leader level in any recreational staff is often the connective tissue of the area: they hold us together, work to repair and improve what is broken, and provide support as an extension of professional staff. The NIRSA Student Development Committee has orchestrated this opportunity for sharing current practices or models, including everything from logistics to theoretical frameworks, and to discuss challenges and future hopes for leadership development. This is the first step in collecting and compiling leadership development practices to share out at a future webinar or NIRSA Conference session.
