Beyond the Paycheck: Utilizing Competencies for Personal and Student Development
Includes a Live Event on 02/07/2022 at 10:00 AM (PST)
As campus recreation professionals, we utilize recreation and wellness opportunities to provide growth experiences for our students. Rarely do we get formal training on how to maximize these learning opportunities for our student staff. Join us as we discuss NIRSA’s newly developed Student Supervisor Competency Guide, which provides a self-assessment rubric to assist those who manage students to become better at the most important parts of their job.
During this session, you will have the opportunity to connect with other professionals who are thinking critically and intentionally about staff development. You will leave the session with practical examples and ideas to incorporate this competency framework into your work.
This is designed to be an interactive workshop; please come with camera on ready to engage.
Presented by NIRSA’s Student Development Task Force
As a result of attending this session, learners will be able to:
1. Explain the purpose and rationale for the creation of supervisor (and student) competencies within NIRSA.
2. Incorporate competencies into their professional practice.
3. Reflect on their work and consider areas of professional growth.
